A Farewell to Krispey Kreme Donuts

15 Apr

Farewell to Krispey Kreme Donuts

Fortunately, I didn’t have to travel to the Krispey Kreme store today, but I did help pass out 150 dozen donuts today.  I tried to resist eating even one, but after preparing several dozen, I just couldn’t resist.  It was wonderful.

My pastor tells a story about how one day he was driving by the Krispey Kreme store when he saw their red light on, shining through the early morning darkness.  He told the Lord, “God, if you want me to eat a couple of those donuts let there be an open parking space for me when I circle the building.  Then, sure enough, on the 8th time around a parking space opened up for me right at the front.”

I’m done with donuts, everyone.  Pray that I’ll stay away from them.

70 Dozen Krispy Kreme Donuts

14 Apr

“Hey, John!  Today when we were driving in the car, my son pointed at you coming out of Krispy Kreme.  What were you doing?  I thought you were trying to be healthy.”

“Well, I am trying, but today wasn’t a very good attempt.  I was picking up 70 dozen donuts.”

Interesting conversation, but true.  Today I picked up 70 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts for a church activity and the owner practically begged me to eat 2 hot donuts on the house as a free sample.  I pleaded for her to take them away from me, but she didn’t.  It smelled so good, I just had to indulge.  Man it was good, but it gave me a severe head rush!  Whew!  I feel better now after drinking some water.

Anyway, we’re serving donuts tomorrow as well, but I’m going to try to abstain.  If you see me on Sunday, ask me if I was successful.

Here’s What I Had To Eat Today:

1 Snackwell’s Protein Meal Bar

1 Ham Sandwich on Whole Wheat with Lettuce, Tomato, and Pickle

4 Chicken Strips

2 Servings of Waffle Fries

2 Krispy Kreme Donuts

80 oz of water

Preparation for Haiti #2

14 Apr

I love my wife.  She’s really looking out for me and my trip to Haiti.  Once she learned that I needed to bring everything with me that I might need for my lunches, she came home with a plethora of healthy (or semi-healthy) items that should be allowed in my bags.  One such item is dry roasted almonds, which she knows I love.  Fortunately, the almonds are packed in 100 calorie packs so I won’t overindulge.  Up to this point, I haven’t heard much from others about what I should take with me.  Any other ideas?

Everything I consumed today:

Too much (but it was for a good cause.  I went to the fundraiser for Healing Hearts For Community Development)

1 Snackwell’s Protein Meal Bar

1 Serving of Green Beans

2 Servings of Lettuce Salad with Cucumbers and Tomatoes

1 Chicken Breast and 1 Chicken Leg

2 Servings of Mixed Fruit

1 Serving of Chocolate Cake

70 oz of water

Exercise:

60 Minutes of Walking

Preparing For Haiti

11 Apr

Preparing for Haiti

Okay, today I got a message from someone.  “Hey!  Easter’s over!  It’s time to get back on track.  That person was right.  So, here I am.  No more fasting.  No more gorging on Easter Sunday afternoon.  It’s time to focus again on being healthy.

I have a little less than two weeks before I travel to Haiti for a mission trip.  I’ll be staying in the village of Gramothe which is almost 5,000 feet above sea level.  While I’m there, lunch will not be provided and there will be no where to eat lunch.  So, we’re supposed to bring with us everything that we need for lunch.  I’ve gone back and forth over what I should take with me to eat.  I can’t bring fresh fruits or vegetables into the country, although I’m sure I’ll get those at breakfast or dinner.  I’ve considered bringing a stash of protein bars.  Any suggestions?

Here’s What I Had To Eat Today:

1 Snackwell’s Protein Meal Bar

1 Red Delicious Apple

1 Small Diet Down Smoothie

1 Serving of Mixed Nuts

1 Chick Fil-A Sandwich

My Exercise Today:

65 Minutes of Walking

My Supplements Friday:

1 Fish Oil Pill

1 Men’s Multi-vitamin
