Working My Way Up To 50

This morning, I was determined to do 50 push-ups.  However, I didn’t quite make it there.  I started off strong, but really started to feel the burn when I passed 40.  When I got to 43, I knew that I couldn’t possibly go on, but somehow I managed to squeeze out 3 more push-ups.  I would love to make it to 50 within the next couple of weeks.  I read today that fit men in their 40’s should be able to do 24 to 40 push-ups without stopping.  When I started trying to get into shape, I could maybe do 5 to 10.  I’m headed to 50.  Who’s with me?

Here’s What I Had To Eat Today:

1 Snackwell’s Protein Meal Bar

1 Serving of Nonfat Strawberry Yogurt

1 Chick Fil-A Sandwich on Whole Wheat

1 Mixed Fruit Cup (Strawberries, Apples, Grapes, Oranges)

1 Grapefruit

1 Ham and Turkey Sandwich on Whole Wheat Sandwich Thins with Fat Free Cheese

100 Oz of Water

My Exercise Friday:

50 Minutes of Walking

1 Filming Session including active stretching

46 Push-Ups

My Supplements Friday:

1 Fish Oil Pill

1 Men’s Multi-vitamin

Grapefruit at the B and B

Grapefruit Nutritional Information

Several years ago, Kathy and I stayed at a bed and breakfast where the breakfast was served in courses.  The first course that was brought to everyone was half of a grapefruit.  Mine was delicious and I ate it gladly.  However, at the time, Kathy had not developed a taste for grapefruit (she eats it daily now) so I ate her grapefruit as well.

Before long, our host returned and told everyone at our table (six people in all) that she would bring out the next course once everyone had eaten their grapefruit.

Once she left, two of women across from us, who had not eaten their grapefruit, said, “We don’t know how to tell her that we really don’t like grapefruit.  We’d like for breakfast to continue, but we don’t know what to do.”

I ate their grapefruit halves as well.  So, to celebrate my memory of that day, here’s the nutritional information for a grapefruit per serving:

97 calories

0 Fat, Cholesterol, and Sodium

Appreciate The Concern

Appreciate The Concern

I’ve appreciated the comments that I received today from everyone both live and online about my pigging out yesterday.  Today, I did somewhat better.  I did drink a Coke because my head was just killing me, so I have another battle to face tomorrow.  Thanks also to my facebook followers who simply knew that I had eaten too much yesterday, but didn’t take the time to actually read what I ate.  (I know this because they asked me today).

Tomorrow, I will continue with real writing about health, fitness, and weight loss.  I just couldn’t do that yesterday or today because it made me feel too much like a hypocrite.  So, I’ll leave you with a quote on hypocrisy from Evangelist Billy Sunday: Hypocrites in the Church? Yes, and in the lodge and at the home. Don’t hunt through the Church for a hypocrite. Go home and look in the mirror. Hypocrites? Yes. See that you make the number one less.

Bicycle

Today, I stopped by the house where I lived when I was in lower elementary school.  Across the street from my house was the park where my dad taught me to ride a bike.  Over the years, I explored that neighborhood and then some with my friends.  Man, I loved that bike.

Reflecting on it now, I got a lot of exercise on that bike.
